Test Details

JEE Advanced 2019 will be organized by one of seven Zonal Coordinating IITs on behalf of Joint Admission Board (JAB). JEE Advanced is a national level entrance exam to get admission in Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree. In 2018, the exam was conducted by the IIT, Kanpur. Through this exam, candidates can get admission in Engineering, Sciences or Architecture courses. Candidates can get the complete information of JEEAdvanced 2019 in this article.

JEE Advance Eligibility Criteria

Percentages of the total number of candidates for various categories: 50.5% for general (common merit list), 27% for OBC, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. within these categories (3% horizontal reservation PwD

Age Limit
  1. Candidate must be born on or after 1 October 1990 (GEN or OBC) or on or after 1 October 1985 (SC, ST or PwD).
Number of Attempts
  1. Candidate can attempt JEE Advanced 2019 for a maximum of two years, consecutively.
Education/Qualifying Exam
  1. Candidate must have passed in Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2017 or 2018
  2. In the qualifying examination, candidates either must have been among category top 20 percentile range or should have secured 75% aggregate marks.
  3. The criteria for SC/ST/PwD is 70%.
  4. Those who appeared in 2016 and want to re-appear in 2017 (either for improvement or due to failure in one or more subjects), are required to re-appear in 2016
  5. Candidates who appeared in 2015 are ineligible with exception being those whose result for 2015-15 was declared after June 2015

Prior Admission in IITs/ISM
  1. Candidate who is already admitted in IITs or ISM is ineligible for admission.
  2. The candidate who is in the preparatory course in any of the IITs in 2015 is eligible.

JEE ADVANCED APPLICATION FORM

The application form for JEE Advanced has been released. The procedure to fill JEE Advanced application form will be as below:

  1. Access the link above.
  2. Read all the instructions to fill the form thoroughly and click on “Proceed To Register Online”
  3. Submit JEE Main roll number, and create a password to register.
  4. Upload all the required documents and certificate.
  5. Remit the application fee via Net Banking or Debit/ Credit card.
JEE ADVANCED APPLICATION – DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
  1. Color passport sized photo covering full face taken within last 6 months
  2. Class X certificate OR birth certificate
  3. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate
  4. Scanned copy of candidate’s full signature
  5. Scanned copy of left-hand thumb impression
  6. Appropriate categorical certificate for SC/ST/OBC/PwD

JEE ADVANCED COUNSELLING

Allotment of seat will be purely based on the category-wise All India Rank in the JEE (Advanced) 2019. Seat allotment process will be started from the third week of June to third week of July 2019. The complete schedule will be declared by the JoSSA itself.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authority to conduct a centralized counselling for admission into IITs, NITs, ISM & other Government FITs. Candidates those will be considered qualified can participate in JoSAA seat allocation process and fill their choices of courses.

JEE ADVANCED SELECTION MODE

Admissions shall be made on the basis of the score in examination (both papers). Higher the score better is the chance of admission. An inter-se merit list shall be created to select the most deserving candidates. You must satisfy any on the following criteria for admission to IITs and ISM –

  1. He is within the category wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in class XII or equivalent examination.
  2. He must secure 75% (for GEN or OBC) or 70% (SC, ST or PwD) of aggregate marks in class XII or equivalent examination.

JEE ADVANCED RANK LIST

The candidates those appeared in paper 1 and paper 2 will only be considered for the rank list. The rank list will be prepared combining the marks of Paper 1 and paper 2. Rank list will be based on aggregate marks in JEE Advanced 2019.

JEE ADVANCED RESULT

To get the result, candidates must go through the points given below:
  1. The JEE Advanced result 2019 will be declared in the second week of June 2019.
  2. Candidates can view their results through online mode only.
  3. Category-wise All India Ranks of qualified candidates will be available through the online portal after the results are declared.
  4. The authority will also send the text messages to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers.
  5. No individual rank cards will be sent to any candidate.
Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2019: for B. Arch. Programmes
  1. B.Arch. programme is available only at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee. Candidates those will pass the JEE Advanced 2019 can appear in AAT.
Candidates have to register online at the JEE Advanced 2019 online portal for AAT. The test will be of 3 hours duration. The question paper will be available in English language. No separate admit card will be issued for AAT. The Joint Implementation Committee will decide the cut-off marks for cleared the AAT. Candidates securing marks above the cut-off will be declared pass in the test. There is no ranking in the AAT.

The authority will release the answer key after one-two days of the examination. Candidate’s responses marked in the exam will be sent to their registered email Id. The answer keys will be displayed through online mode.

Through candidate portal, candidates can send their feedbacks regarding official answer key. Candidates have to send the feedback before the date prescribed for respective activity.

A common rank list will be prepared by the authority. For preparatory courses, a separate category-wise merit list will be generated.

TIE-BREAKING MECHANISM

In case aggregate marks by two or more candidates are same, a tie-break mechanism will be followed.

  • Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate with higher marks in Math

  • Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate with higher marks in Physics

  • If issue is not resolved yet, the same rank will be assigned

  • Mode: From 2018, the exam is conducting through online mode.

  • Paper: JEE Advanced 2019 will be consisting of two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Both papers are compulsory to attempt.

  • Exam Duration: 3 hours will be provided for each paper. Some extra time will be given to the PwD candidates.

  • Type of Questions: Objective type questions will be asked in the exam.

  • Language: The language of the exam will be in English and Hindi.

  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects will be asked in the exam..

  • Negative Marking: There is a provision of negative marking. It is different for each paper.

IIT Kanpur, the conducting authority will conduct JEE Advanced in the computer-based test mode. Till 2017, JEE Advanced was held in pen and paper (P&P) based mode. This year the medium of the paper will be both in English and Hindi and candidates will be able to switch between the two languages any time during the examination if required. Some aspects of JEE Advanced question paper such as number of papers, subjects, question type, language medium and duration are announced before the examination.
