A brief on IISER 2020:

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) will conduct IISER admission for admitting candidates to 5-year BS-MS degree programmes at its seven participating institutes. Admisson will be conducted through three channels – KVPY, JEE, and SCB. Candidates applying through first two channels are eligible for direct admission, while an aptitude test will be conducted for candidates opting for SCB option. Candidates may apply through any or all of the three options, but they must fulfill the eligibility criteria of each of the channels individually. The application form for all the channels will be the same and has to be filled online. The aptitude test of IISER admission will include four subjects and a total of 60 questions, 15 questions from each subject. The test will be of 3 hours duration and consist of MCQs. For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded 3 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for an incorrect attempt. The application for IISER admission will be available tentatively in the fourth week of May, . The IISER application form must be submitted within the prescribed deadline after duly completing it. Admissions to IISER 2020 will be through three channels:

  1. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) – Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of valid KVPY fellowship.
  2. State and Central Boards Channel (SCB) channel – Candidates opting for this channel will have to appear in an aptitude test, the details of which are given below.
  3. Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (JEE) channel – Candidates with valid JEE Advanced scores are eligible for direct admission.

IISER Admission 2020 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria of IISER may vary depending on under which channel admission is sought:

KYPY Channel: Under this category, candidates need to have a valid KYPY fellowship commencing 2019-20. In addition, candidates will have to meet the cutoff criteria that may be applicable.

JEE Channel: General Category candidates who have scored an All Inda Rank (AIR) within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE Advanced can apply. In case of reserved category candidates, they need to be ranked inside the top 10000 in their respective categories.

SCB Channel: Students seeking admission under this channel must meet the minimum cutoff percentage prescribed by IISER for their respective state boards. Aditionally, candidates will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test to be considered for admission.

 Nationality

Indian nationals are eligible to apply for IISER admission. PIO and OCI category candidates can also apply, but like their Indian counterparts they must also meet apply through any of the three available channels and satisfy applicable eligibility criteria.

IISER Admission Application Form 2020

The application form of IISER will be available in online mode only. The application form of all the three channels will be the same. The candidate can apply through more than one channel, but for each channel the application form has to be filled and the application fee paid separately. Also when filling the application for a particular channel, the candidate must ensure that he/she meets the eligibility criteria prescribed for that channel.

Filling the application form of IISER Admission 2020

To fill the application form of IISER , the candidate will have to get registered using a valid email ID and select a password. After registering, the candidate will have to log in using the log-in credentials.

The application form of IISER will have fields like:

  • Stream (KVPY, JEE Advanced, and SCB)
  • Category (GE, SC, ST, etc)
  • Address of Communication
  • Date of Birth

Candidate opting for SCB option will also have to enter the subject-wise marks (the name of the subject accompanied by marks obtained out of total marks).

After filling in all the essential fields with authentic data, the candidate will have to upload all the revelant documents and pay the application fee to finally complete the application process. The application fee has to be paid online using the secure payment gateway of the application portal. Payments made using DD or any other means will not be accepted.

Candidates may choose any or all of the three streams for admission. But to apply thorugh multiple channels, the candidate must fill separate application forms and also pay the corresponding application fee as well.

The IISER Aptitude Test will be conducted for candidates opting for admission under SCB channel in multiple cities across India. Candidates can pick their choice of test center at the time of filling the online application form of IISER. The details of the test center will be mentioned in the hall ticket. IISER Admission 2020 Syllabus

The syllabus of IISER will be released for the IISER Aptitude Test , which will be conducted for candidates applying for admission under SCB channel. No syllabus will be released for the other two channels as there is no aptitude test involved. IISER Admit Card 2020 – For candidates opting for SCB Channel

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research will release the IISER admit card tentatively in the third week of June in online mode. To download the admit card of IISER , the candidate will have to enter their email ID and password. The IISER admit card will contain details like the name of the candidate, roll number, alloted exam center, time and date of the exam, and also exam instructions. Before downloading the IISER admit card, the candidate must ensure that the details mentioned in it are correct and identifiable; or else the candidate must get in touch with admission authorities.

How to download IISER Admit card 2020

  • Click on the admit card download link (will be provided here once it is available)
  • Log-in to portal using the following details:
    • Email ID
    • Password (generated at the time of registration)
    • Security code displayed on screen
  • The admit card will be displayed on screen
  • Check that all the details mentioned in it are correct.
  • Donwload and take printout of the IISER admit card.

IISER Answer Key 2020

The answer key of IISER Aptitude Test will be available after the conclusion of the test. Using the IISER answer key, candidates will be able to calculate correctly their expected score in the aptitude test, which for the record will be conducted only for SCB candidates. The answer key will be available for all the questions sets and include answer to all 60 questions. To count their expected mark in the test, the candidate can check their responses with those given in the answer key. The marking scheme prescribed by the admission committee must be followed when awarding marks.

IISER Result 2020

The result of the aptitude test, for candidates applying through SCB channel, will be announced in online mode. To view the result, candidates need to simply go to the result page and select the SCB Seat Allotment option; no log-in is required. The result page will display the role numbers of candidates who have been offered seats. However, to download the offer letter, the candidate will have to log in to the application portal using their login credentials.

The result for the first round of seat allotment is likely to be announced in the first week of July, 2017. Candidates who have been alloted seats can opt for float option in subsequent rounds, but for that they have to first pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF).

Candidates opting for KVPY channel need to follow the same procedure to check and download their offer letter.

 IISER Admission Counselling 2020

The counsellling of IISER admission will be conducted for the candidates who have been shotlisted in their respective channels. Counselling will be conducted separately for each of the three modes of admission and there will be separate seat allotment lists as well. The allotment of seat will be based on factors like number of seats available, rank of the candidate in the merit list, and choice filling. Candidates who are placed higher in the merit rank of IISER will have more preferance during the counselling process.
