PEC 2020 Admission, Dates, Eligibility & CounsellingPEC 2020 Application Form can be filled in by those of you who wish to pursue an undergraduate course in Engineering from the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh. Admissions to PEC are made once every year in the month of July. If you would like to enroll for any the degree programs in engineering that are offered at the University, you can directly fill in your application form online. The application form of PEC will, however, be made accessible to you only after you have paid the requisite counselling fee. Your selection for admissions to the B.E programmes will be done on the basis of your rank in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main that will be conducted by CBSE on an All India level. Step by Step Directions for filling in the PEC Application Form 2020

The following guidelines are meant to be a helpful reference for those of you who would like to fill in the PEC Application Form. You are advised to read all the application instructions carefully and only then proceed to fill in the form:

  • To start with, you will have to create an account on the official website of the PEC University of Technology by providing details such as your name, date of birth, email ID, Mobile Number, Address etc.
  • Once your account has been successfully created, you are to choose the preferred mode through which you would like to make payment of the counselling fee.
  • There are three payment options. You can either use your Visa/Master Card to make the payment or you can pay via Net Banking through HDFC Gateway. If you prefer to make in-person payments, on the other hand, you simply need to take a printout of the e-slip and pay the amount at any of the selected bank branches.
  • Once your payment is done, follow the confirmation instructions that will be given on the website to validate your registration.
  • After activation and validation of your registration, you can begin to fill in the PEC Application Form.
  • All the requisite details are to be filled out carefully and none of the pertinent fields/information required is to be missed out.
  • Some of the specific details that you may be asked to include in your application form are your JEE Main Roll Number and All India Rank, your state of eligibility, main category & sub-category, merit in sports and details of the Tuition fee Waiver & Freeship Scheme.

 When filling out the PEC Application Form, if you wish to avail the benefit of Rural Area in addition to any relaxation/concession for your reserved status, you are to clearly indicate your rural status by highlighting that you are “Eligible for rural area status in Punjab state”. For those of you who would like to avail the Sikh minority benefit from the state of Punjab, a Sikh Minority Test will be conducted by SGPC and you will have to undergo the same. PEC Counselling for admissions to the B.E programmes offered at the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh and five other technical institutes of the region will be carried out under the direction of the Joint Admission Committee (JAC). The entire counselling process will be conducted online. The counselling will be carried out in three rounds and will involve steps such registration, choice filling, mock counselling and seat allotment. Candidates will be selected for admissions through the counselling procedure on the basis of their rank in the JEE Main . Stages of the PEC Counselling Procedure 2020

Stage I: Online Registration, Payment of Registration Fees and Verification of Documents

  • The admission process will start with eligible candidates having to fill up an online registration form followed by payment of the registration fee.
  • The registration fee that every participant will be required to pay is Rs.1500/-, the payment of which can be made through Debit Card/Credit Card/E-Challan.
  • After successful registration, candidates are to take a printout of the Confirmation Page that is generated and report in person along with all the relevant documents at the University, for physical and document verification.

Stage II: Online Choice Filling

  • The second step of the PEC Counselling process is for candidates to fill in their choices of the preferred branch and Institute.
  • Candidates can fill in as many choices as they wish and will also be permitted to re-order, delete or add any number of choices until they have locked their final choices.

Stage III: Mock Counselling

  • After candidates have filled in their choices, the University will conduct ‘Mock Counselling’ which will demonstrate how seats will be offered to candidates.
  • The indicative seat availability will be displayed twice on the official website of the University at specified periods and candidates are advised to refer to the same before they finalize on their choice of the Institute.

Stage IV: Locking and Printing of Choices

  • At the end of the mock counselling, candidates who have finalized their choices can proceed to lock them and generate a printout of the same.
  • In case, any candidate fails to lock their choices before the deadline specified, the choices that were last saved by them will be automatically locked.
  • Candidates who have registered for the PEC Counselling but have not indicated any choices in any round will not be considered for the allotment of a seat. Such candidates may, however, participate in the Spot Round of counselling after depositing participation fees of Rs.40,000/-.

Stage V: Allocation of Seats

  • Seats will be allocated to candidates after the choices that have been submitted by them through the PEC Counselling procedure have been processed centrally.
  • The PEC Seat Allotment results will be displayed on the official website of the University and will also be communicated to candidates through SMS.
  • Candidates, who are allotted a seat during any of the three rounds of the PEC Counselling procedure, should pay the requisite admission fee failing which their admission will stand cancelled.

PEC 2020 Admissions – Admissions to the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) courses offered at the PEC University of Technology will be made as per the joint decisions of JAC Chandigarh and five other technical institutes of the region. The PEC University of Technology formerly called the Punjab Engineering College will shortlist candidates for admissions on the basis of their JEE Main Scores/Ranks. Candidates who wish to pursue a degree course in engineering from the University can start registering their applications for admissions from the first week of July tentatively.

The University has a total of around 505 seats available for admissions to the B.E/B.Tech programs. Of the total seats, 253 seats have been reserved for candidates under the Chandigarh quota while the remaining seats are open for admissions to candidates under the All India Quota. Specific details with regard to the PEC Admission-via JAC Chandigarh including the admission schedule, the names of the participating institutes, criteria of eligibility and other such relevant information has been provided below for the reference of students.

PEC Admission 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The following conditions of eligibility will apply for PEC Admissions-via JAC Chandigarh:

  • The applicant ought to have passed the Class 12 or its equivalent examination in the year 2015 or 2016 and should have secured a valid rank in JEE Main.
  • Applicants who are appearing for the Class 12 or its equivalent examination in the year are also eligible to apply for admissions, subject to the condition that they have a valid JEE Main Rank.
  • Candidates who have a compartment in any subject will not be eligible for admissions even if they clear the same.
  • Foreign Nationals/NRI students will have to comply with the requirements of the Government of India as well as those of Punjab University, Chandigarh as prescribed by them from time to time.

PEC 2020 Admission Application Form

Candidates who wish to register for PEC Admissions-via JAC Chandigarh can fill in their application forms online. The application forms will be made available at chdenggadmissions.nic.in. In order to successfully register their applications, every applicant will be required to pay a fee of Rs.1500/- which can either be deposited in the form of e-challan in any branch of HDFC Bank throughout India or through an online payment mode such as Credit Card/Debit Card.

PEC Admission 2020 Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected for admissions to the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) program on the basis of their All India Rank (AIR) as determined by CBSE after considering their JEE (Main)-score and their normalized marks in the Class 12 or its equivalent qualifying examination. The two scores will be given 60:40 percent weightage respectively. CBSE will decide the cutoff marks/criteria for various categories on the declaration of the JEE Main Result.

PEC 2020 Admission Counselling & Seat Allotment

Counselling for PEC Admission will be held online in four rounds. Only candidates who have registered to participate in the counselling process and have also paid the requisite registration fee will be permitted to take part in the counselling session for the allotment of a seat. The allocation of seats to candidates will be done as per the choices indicated by them and their merit in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main .
