CUT OFF PTU 2020

Over the last few years, admissions to the engineering colleges in the state of Punjab is being done on the basis of the JEE (Main) ranks/scores. Earlier, a Common Entrance Test (CET) was conducted under the direction of the Punjab Technical University (PTU) at Jalandhar for admissions to the undergraduate engineering and architecture courses. However, the Punjab Government has done away with this common entrance test and the varsity now fills up seats for admissions based on the JEE (Main) scores of candidates. The University declares a cutoff to select candidates for admissions on the basis of their JEE Main scores. The PTU B.Tech Cutoff for the upcoming year will be declared soon after the results of the JEE Main Exam has been released.

The PTU B.Tech 2020 Cutoff will be the baseline against which candidates are selected for admissions to the B.Tech courses that are offered at the various colleges and institutes in the state of Punjab. The admission cutoff will be made public at the University’s official website. Candidates can, therefore, verify the same through ptu.ac.in after it has been officially released. There will be separate cutoff categories declared for Punjab residents and candidates residing outside the state of Punjab. The cutoff  for PTU B.Tech will be determined after taking into account a number of factors including the total number of applicants for PTU B.Tech , the number of seats that are available for admissions and the relative performance of candidates in the JEE Main Exam etc.

Based on the PTU B.Tech Cutoff that is declared, the University will draw up a Merit List indicating the names of candidates who have been shortlisted for admissions. Candidates will be admitted to the subsequent counselling rounds for seat allotment from the said list only. Applicants who fail to meet the PTU B.Tech Cutoff will not be considered any further in the admission process.

Reservation Criteria of PTU B.Tech 2020

The percentage of seats reserved for different categories for admissions to the Engineering & Technology courses will be as follows:
